The story behind Piqué Cases
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for beauty. I remember sitting in front of the family computer for hours after school, watching endless make-up tutorials. It started as a hobby, and over the years it became more than that — doing make-up for my little sister, my friends, and for special occasions. Deep down, I always knew I wanted to do something in the beauty industry. I just didn’t know what yet.
Becoming a make-up artist didn’t quite feel like the right fit, even though I loved make-up immensely. I was still studying to become an e-commerce specialist when I was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do my final placement in Dubai.
Internship in Dubai
That period gave me the space to really think about what I wanted. And it always came back to two things: beauty and entrepreneurship.
During my time in Dubai, I travelled back and forth a lot. And time and again, I noticed the same thing: all my expensive make-up was scattered everywhere. Everything had to be packed into several toiletries bags – it was chaos. Not a single make-up bag felt good enough for what I needed to carry. That was the moment I knew: I needed something different. A case that suited the way I want to live — with enough space for my everyday make-up, a place for my brushes, and where my liquid products could stand upright without leaking.
The creation of Piqué Cases
After a lot of research and sample after sample, I finally found something I truly fell in love with: a practical vanity case that you can take with you when travelling, or display proudly on your dressing table. And so Piqué Cases was born.
For the design, I deliberately chose vegan ostrich leather — inspired by the iconic luxury handbags I saw every day in Dubai. For me, it wasn’t just about luxury, but also about inspiration. Being surrounded by so many successful, influential people was a constant reminder of why I studied and worked so hard. For me, it’s a symbol of success. A reminder that there’s nothing wrong with loving the finer things in life, and that those goals are truly achievable if you put in the work — especially as a young woman from a migrant background.
Ostrich leather is a print you don’t see very often and which is underrated. But here’s our prediction: it’s set to become a major fashion trend in the coming years.
I chose the baby pink colour to really set us apart, and to appeal to the ‘girly girls’. We’ll be launching more colours soon during our second and third restocks.
